Terms of Service

1. the service

StreamFS connects to your own S3-compatible storage (or managed storage you enable) and presents it as a local filesystem with streaming reads, caching, and collaboration features. StreamFS is currently offered as an early-access product: features may change, and the service is provided on an "as available" basis.

2. eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use StreamFS. You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account, and you agree to keep your password and encryption keys secure. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. your content & storage

You retain all rights to the files and data you access through StreamFS ("Your Content"). Because your storage credentials are held under zero-knowledge encryption and your files stream directly between your devices and your storage provider, we do not access, store, or control Your Content. You are solely responsible for Your Content, for having the rights to use it, and for your storage provider account, its configuration, and its costs. You grant us only the limited rights necessary to operate the service for you (for example, storing the metadata needed to present your filesystem).

4. acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use StreamFS for anything unlawful, infringing, or harmful;
• store or distribute content you do not have the right to use;
• attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt the service or other users;
• reverse engineer or circumvent the service except as permitted by law;
• resell or provide the service to third parties except as expressly allowed.

5. plans, billing & storage costs

With bring-your-own-storage, you pay your storage provider directly; StreamFS is not responsible for those charges. Paid StreamFS plans and optional managed storage are billed through our payment processor according to the pricing shown at sign-up or in your account. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law, and we may change pricing with reasonable notice. You are responsible for applicable taxes.

6. early access & availability

During early access, the service may be modified, limited, or discontinued, and availability and data durability are not guaranteed. Keep your own backups of anything important. We welcome your feedback and may use it to improve the service without obligation to you.

7. intellectual property

StreamFS and its software, trademarks, and content are owned by us or our licensors. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service. No rights are granted except as expressly stated.

8. third-party services

StreamFS works with third-party services you choose or that we use to operate (such as your storage provider and our payment processor). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

9. termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the service or other users. On termination, your right to use the service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

10. disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

11. limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StreamFS will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (or USD $100 if you paid nothing).

12. indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold StreamFS harmless from claims arising out of Your Content, your use of the service, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

13. governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which StreamFS is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts for any disputes, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

14. changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We will revise the version and effective date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms; we record the version you accepted when you create your account.
